Susan Laird - Marketing writer
Educated
Susan learned the craft of writing at an early age from her father, who was a talented writer and marketing professional for Shell Oil Company during the "Mad Men" era of the 1960s.
Writing, for her, is a joy and a delight.
Not to mention, FUN.
She is a graduate of Oregon State University's technical journalism department (now defunct). Her major was industrial-business communications. An active writer even then, Susan was the news editor of the campus newspaper, The Daily Barometer.
Sharpened
A native of San Francisco, Susan returned to Silicon Valley to work as a marketing account executive. She managed multiple projects for Fortune 500 companies.
Susan continued her education in marketing communications at Stanford University and pursued additional MarCom studies at San Jose State University.
She is a graduate of several programs from American Writers and Artists (AWAI), including B2B Success and Internet Research.
Susan holds certificates from A-List Copywriter Clayton Makepeace's workshops on Video Sales Letters, Financial Copywriting, and Writing Million-Dollar Sales Letters.
As a member of AWAI's Circle of Success, Susan stays up-to-date on the latest marketing trends and techniques. She provides feedback to a select circle of marketing professionals worldwide.
Experienced
With many decades of marketing writing and editing under her belt, Susan has a wide range of experience.
Her favorite projects include blogs and case studies, because these involve contact with people. Whether that is in person, over the phone, or via apps ... the human touch adds warmth to any project, and gives Susan a deep sense of purpose.
Other projects include print and online content for white papers, brochures, flyers, email campaigns, websites, press releases and media kits.
Her clients run the gamut from locations in California's wine country to New York City.
Susan is an editor emeritus of Life Newspapers LLC, and Valley Community Newspapers in Sacramento, Calif.
Authentic
When not tapping away on a keyboard, Susan enjoys English gardening, dogs, and baseball.
As an aficionado of the visual and performing arts, she writes an entertainment column for The Mountain Democrat, California's oldest newspaper.
Her favorite time is spent with friends and traveling.
